The song ‘Besharam Rang’ from upcoming film Pathaan may be making news for the most awkward reasons now, but Bollywood has relentlessly promoted the problematic ideology at the core of that song for ages – scores of skimpily-clad women dancing in an erotic manner to seduce a man in what seems like a depiction of an Islamic “jannat” (paradise) with the women as “hoors”.
Amid this, a video of Shah Rukh Khan where he reveals that he wanted to be “the biggest porn star in the world” has surfaced. In a sense, he would have rather enjoyed being a porn star in the West than make quality films in Mumbai.
One of Khan’s earlier films was Maya Memsaab (1993), which has an intimate scene between Khan and actress Deepa Sahi in the nude. While Sahi exposes her breasts, Khan gives a view of his naked posterior.
