Where are Hindu nai (barber) today?

Have they voluntarily given up from their traditional profession in pursuit of better opportunities or driven out?

NHRC member @KanoongoPriyank recently posted about his visit to a village in Haryana near Gurgaon, entirely home to nai jaati. Almost everyone is into daily wage labour.

Turns out they want to enter salon industry, but lack support or direction. They didn’t even know about skill-training schemes by govt or how to enrol. They expressed concerns how they would run their house during training and settling in the new role

Kanoongi Ji made an appeal for organisations to step in. @sewanyaya is ready and we are already taking things forward as per his advice

Will be a big step towards restoring their self-respect and dignity
