This is an example of how Bollywood mocks fasting during Navratri, trivializing the dedication and spiritual experience as a spoof.
Here is a scene from Jodi Breakers (2012) in which a woman rejoices at the death of her husband (who had just then discovered her affair) and thanks God by vowing to eat “bina pyaaz wala chicken” (chicken without onion).
The dialogue aims to make a farce of Navratri fasting, where most Hindu families avoid onion, garlic, eggs, and meat besides several kinds of grain and even common salt. Fasting is a common practice in many religions, but can you think of a scene mocking other religions like this?
