When Deepika Padukone Fancied Rahul Gandhi As Prime Minister In An Interview And Joined Anti-BJP-RSS Sloganeering In JNU

The Bollywood brigade and the Congress Party seem to be in an awkward symbiotic relationship. Congress party members get belligerent (to the extent of issuing death threats) if someone repeatedly calls out Lollywood propaganda in the Mumbai-based film industry. The latter can’t wait for the day when Congress comes back to power.

For example, Congress member Andria D’Souza, who often appears on television debates as party spokesperson, called for the killing of the Gems of Bollywood team on her Twitter account a couple of days ago. After the Gems of Bollywood Twitter account highlighted it and tagged the police, she deleted her post. You can read more about those threats here.

Similarly, Bollywood has never shied away from expressing its love for the political party, which practically invented the “saffron terror” narrative. Take this old interview featuring ‘Besharam Rang’ actress Deepika Padukone, for example.

The actress said Rahul Gandhi is a youth icon who is doing greatest things possible for the country.

Now, she perhaps also wants that the religiously persecuted minorities (Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Christians, Jains, Parsis) in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan continue to suffer gross human rights violations.

We are saying this because she visited the Jawaharlal Nehru University to show solidarity with the students opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act in 2020. She also stood solidly with them while they raised anti-BJP and RSS slogans. Claims were later made that she was paid Rs 5 crore from the Pakistani ISI-backed businessman Aneel Mussarrat for the visit.
